High in the mountains, where the clouds drift low and the air is cool,
tiny wildflowers bloom quietly along the trail.
This is Happo-One Ridge—one of Hakuba’s most beautiful summer hikes.
A Trail of Wind and Flowers
The journey begins with a gondola and two ski lifts.
You’ll arrive at about 1,830 meters above sea level.
The trail begins on soft serpentine soil,
then changes to wooden boardwalks surrounded by alpine blooms.
Look closely, you may find delicate gentians, primulas, and other rare high-altitude flowers near Ginrei Pond.
If the weather is clear, you’ll see the mountains reflected perfectly on the still water of Happo Pond.
Getting There from Hakuba Inn Bloom
This trailhead is only 10 minutes by car or bike from the inn.
